چکیده

A monosialoganglioside antigen of gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas defined by murine monoclonal antibody was dem onstrated by immunoperoxidase (IP) assay in fixed paraffinembedded tumors in 59% of colonie adenocarcinomas, 86% of pancreatic adenocarcinomas, and 89% of all gastric ade nocarcinomas. In all patients with detectable levels of antigen in circulation, the resected tumors also expressed the antigen in IP assay. Six of eight individuals with no detectable levels of antigen in their serum samples expressed the antigen in the tumor tissue. Removal of the sialic acid residue of the antigen abolished the IP reaction. The successful use of the IP assay on fixed tissue to demonstrate the specific sites of gastrointes tinal cancer antigen localization in human tumors and normal tissues provides an important tool for the study of developing neoplasia.

PRODUCTIO N OF PROSTATE-SPECIFIC ANTIGEN (PSA) BY A BREAST CANCER CELL LINE, SK-Br-3

PSA is a 33-KDa serine protease that is produced predominantly by prostate epithelium. However, it has been shown that about 30-40% of female breast tumors produce PSA and its production is associated with the presence of estrogen and progesterone receptors. We have now developed a new tissue culture system to study PSA production in breast cancer and its association with prognostic factors...

Human pancreatic cancer associated antigen detected by monoclonal antibody.

Monoclonal antibody F30 was produced by the fusion of murine myeloma cell line P3-X63-Ag8-653 with spleen cells from a BALB/C mouse immunized with established human pancreatic cancer cell line (PK-1) and the reaction specificity was analyzed. The antigen recognized by monoclonal antibody F30 was different from HLA-associated antigen, beta 2-microglobulin, fetal bovine serum components, ferritin...

Immunoperoxidase localization of a high-molecular-weight mucin recognized by monoclonal antibody 1D3.

The distribution of an antigen recognized by murine monoclonal antibody 1D3 (Bhattacharya, M., Chatterjee, S.K., Barlow, J. J., and Fuji, H. Cancer Res., 42: 1650-1654, 1982) was investigated in various types of human malignant and normal adult tissues by indirect immunoperoxidase assay in fixed paraffin-embedded sections. One hundred percent of ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinomas expressed hi...

Distribution of a squamous cell lung carcinoma-associated antigen, KA-32, in human tissues and sera defined by monoclonal antibody KM-32.

The distribution of a variant of blood group A antigen recognized by a murine monoclonal antibody, KM-32, generated against human squamous cell lung carcinoma was investigated in various tissues and sera. By immunoperoxidase staining, the antibody was found to react with a number of lung carcinoma tissues of squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and small cell carcinoma, and several other tu...
